I received my PhD in History from Princeton University in 2020. I am currently an assistant professor in international history at the National Institute of Education, part of the Nanyang Technological University, in Singapore. Before moving to Singapore, I taught at SciencesPo as a Teaching Fellow (2019–2020) and at Mount Holyoke College as a Visiting Assistant Professor (2020–2021). Since 2020, I have served as a podcast host for the New Books Network and, since 2024, as a reviews editor for H-Diplo.
My work has appeared in the Journal of Contemporary History, the Journal of African History, and History in Africa. In 2024, I co-edited, with Claire Nicolas, a special issue of Ghana Studies entitled “Rethinking Ghana’s Long 1970s.” My first monograph, An Anticolonial Development: Public Schooling, Emancipation and its Limits in 20th Century West Africa, is forthcoming with Cambridge University Press.
